Padmaavat" is a historical drama film released in 2018. The film is based on the epic poem "Padmavat" by Malik Muhammad Jayasi, which is a fictionalized account of the siege of Chittorgarh in 1303.

The story revolves around Rani Padmavati, a legendary queen known for her beauty, wisdom, and courage. She is married to Maharawal Ratan Singh, the ruler of Mewar. Everything seems peaceful in their kingdom until the tyrant ruler of Delhi, Alauddin Khilji, hears about Padmavati's exceptional beauty and becomes obsessed with possessing her.

Alauddin Khilji, driven by his desire, marches towards Chittorgarh with his massive army and lays siege to the kingdom. Ratan Singh, along with his army, prepares to defend their homeland. As the battle ensues, Ratan Singh's bravery and strategic skills impress Khilji, who proposes a truce.

Unbeknownst to Ratan Singh, Khilji's proposal is a trap to capture Padmavati. In a sudden turn of events, Khilji succeeds in capturing Ratan Singh and takes him as a prisoner. Meanwhile, Padmavati, along with the help of her loyal companions, devises a plan to rescue her husband.

In the climax, Padmavati orchestrates a daring escape and reunites with Ratan Singh. The united couple, along with their army, engage in a final battle against Khilji and his forces. The battle is fierce, with both sides displaying immense courage and determination.

Ultimately, Rani Padmavati, refusing to be captured or dishonored by Khilji, makes the ultimate sacrifice. She chooses to commit "jauhar," a ritual self-immolation, along with other women of the kingdom, to protect their honor and avoid falling into Khilji's hands.

"Padmaavat" portrays the valor, sacrifice, and indomitable spirit of Rani Padmavati and the people of Chittorgarh. The film explores themes of love, honor, and the price one is willing to pay to protect their dignity.
